Caterham Prep School's Year 6 pupils (10 and 11 year olds) seemed to have stepped into a time warp this week when they all arrived at school dressed as evacuees from the Second World War.

The children had been learning all about World War II as part of their History studies, and this culminated in a World War II day, led by visiting teacher, Sir Teachalot. Both children and staff entered into the spirit of the day by wearing clothing and uniforms from the war.

They spent the day learning about the battles that took place, being drilled in the home guard, witnessing and trying on different uniforms, listening to key speeches and learning songs based upon wartime Britain. Lots of fun was had trying to use some hands on fire fighting equipment from the time, and much square bashing took place with broomstick rifles to train with. Some real wartime weapons were also on hand to examine.
