Appeal to help upgrade local War Memorial PDF Print E-mail
Friday, 09 July 2010 09:27

The War Memorial in Townend, Caterham-on-the-Hill. Photo by Emma BerryFollowing a recent appraisal of the War Memorial outside the Caterham ex services club and Royal British Legion the members decided an upgrade was needed to improve the appearance of this important local landmark.

Club member, Peter McNeil, said: “We decided it was getting rather tatty-looking so we want to give it an upgrade which will include planting bi-annuals and perennials such as roses around the memorial. We are asking local businesses and individuals if they would kindly help us to raise the funds we need.”

David Knight of Knights Garden Centre has made a generous offer to assist with the improvements but the members still need £500 to complete the task. Any extra money raised will go to the Royal British Legion Benevolent Fund and other military funds.

If you would like to make a donation, please call Peter on 01883 348221.
