Fly-tipping - we need your help PDF Print E-mail
Tuesday, 09 February 2010 18:06

Every year fly-tipping costs Tandridge council tax payers £60,000 to remove. The Council investigates every fly-tipping incident, but sometimes more information is needed.

A special fly-tipping appeals page has been set up on the Council’s website. Visit www.tandridge.gov.uk/environment/streetcleaning/appeals.htm for a list of fly-tipping incidents the Council needs help with. Up to £500 is available for information leading to a successful prosecution.

Residents can also call 0800 068 2070 to report fly tipping or e-mail This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

Any resident having work carried out at home, should always check the person disposing of the waste has a waste carriers licence. If they don’t, the chances are the rubbish will be dumped down one of Tandridge’s green and leafy lanes and they could be liable and even fined for not passing their waste to an authorised person.

Residents can contact the Environment Agency on 08708 506 506 and ask for a Waste Carrier Validation Check, or visit www.environment-agency.gov.uk.

Councillor Tony Elias, Chairman of the Community Services Committee, said: “We are asking residents to help us identify where fly-tipping has come from, or give us any information about who may be responsible. Fly-tipping ruins the environment and costs a lot of money to remove.”
